Questions We Hear Most Often

You may find your answer here before needing to contact us. We have gathered the most common visitor questions from our inbox over the past several years.

No. Nile Heritage Guide is a research and information resource, not a tour agency or ticketing platform. We do not sell entry tickets to any site, book accommodation, arrange transport, or connect visitors with individual guides. If you need those services, we can suggest categories of reputable operators and explain what to look for, but we do not make direct referrals or receive any commission from tour businesses.
We verify opening times and ticket prices through a combination of on-site checks and cross-referencing with the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities official communications. Our database is reviewed quarterly, with individual entries updated as soon as significant changes come to our attention. That said, Egypt's heritage sites — especially the smaller, less-visited ones — do change hours with limited advance notice, often for conservation work, seasonal staffing adjustments, or special events. We strongly recommend calling the relevant site administration or checking local tourism authority announcements for any site you plan to visit as a specific priority on a tight schedule.
Yes, we are open to media enquiries. Dr. Ahmed Khalil and Prof. Layla Hassan have both given broadcast and print interviews on topics including pharaonic monument conservation, the Grand Egyptian Museum opening, UNESCO heritage protection in conflict-adjacent regions, and the management of mass tourism at fragile sites. Please use the contact form, selecting a subject line that makes the nature of your request clear, and include information about the publication or production, your deadline, and the specific topics you would like to cover.
Use the contact form above, selecting the relevant plan from the Guide plan interest dropdown. Alternatively, visit our plans page and click the relevant plan button, which will pre-populate the dropdown for you. Once we receive your request, we will send payment instructions by return email. After payment is confirmed, access to all plan materials is granted within one working day. We currently accept bank transfer to our Cairo account and PayPal. We do not accept credit card payments processed through third-party platforms.
The solar alignment at Abu Simbel occurs on 22 February and 22 October each year, when the rising sun penetrates 65 metres into the innermost sanctuary of the Great Temple of Ramesses II to illuminate three of the four seated statues. These dates are determined by the original construction alignment, though the UNESCO relocation in the 1960s shifted the alignment by one day (it was originally 21 February and 21 October, corresponding to the pharaoh's coronation and birthday according to some scholars). The event is popular with specialist visitors and photography enthusiasts; we recommend arriving at the site by 05:00 on the morning of the alignment and expecting larger-than-usual crowds for the following 90 minutes. Our seasonal events page covers this in detail.
